The Art of Communication

Conflicts arise in the workplace, in part, because people consistently don’t listen to each other effectively. This is in part because we don’t connect with each other’s messages. When the average person can hear at a rate of 450 words per minute but can only talk at a rate of about 125 – 175 words per minute you can see how easily we can become distracted by the thinking in our heads as to how we’re going to respond.

Join the University Ombuds Office as we explore three elements that will help us create a space for effective dialogue:

  • The Power of Listening
  • The Power of Questions and
